Business Owner's Policy

BOP vs. Separate General Liability and Property Policies

5 min read

A BOP bundles general liability and commercial property into a single policy, generally with lower administrative overhead and often lower total cost than buying each separately.

Eligibility usually depends on business size, industry, and revenue — most carriers cap BOP eligibility for higher-hazard operations or larger payrolls.

Even when a business qualifies, a BOP isn't automatically the better fit. Businesses with unusual property values or specialized equipment sometimes get better terms with a monoline property policy.

The right way to decide: get both quoted and compare not just premium, but the actual coverage triggers and exclusions.
